Pipe unzip to dd

This is a handy thing to know when you download a zipped image and you want to pipe it directly to (eg.) an SD card.

~/Downloads $ unzip -p MinePeon-0.2.3a.img.zip | sudo dd bs=2M of=/dev/mmcblk0

If uncompressing using tar, you’ll have to use the –to-command to get the same effect:

~/Downloads $ tar -xf fdboot.img.tar.gz --to-command="sudo dd bs=512k of=/dev/sda"

You won’t bee seeing any progress while the image is being written, be patient !
